really, really scary

http://www.aap.org/publiced/BR_FebrileSeizures.htm

Yesterday was a one of the hardest days that I have had as a parent. Actually, it was probably harder on Andy because he had to see Natalie have a febrile seziure. Our sweet little girl has had struggles in her life, but she has very rarely been ill. It is always hard for us to know when something is even wrong because she has an extremely high pain tolerance. She bonks her head on the corner of the coffe table, giggles, and runs off. So we were not prepared for Thursday. She was running a very low grade fever Thurs. morning, so we sent her off to school, thinking maybe she had a little cold . Kumari called us from school around lunchtime saying she had a fever, but it was the one day that I didn't have a car . By the time that we got her to the doctor her fever was over 103 and she had a 5 minute seziure at Dr. Eady's office. We were lucky- it ended on its own and she was okay afterwards. Of course, she was confused, but in good spirits. Today she has been her usual spunky self. We don't know what caused it. Her ears, throat, and urine specimen are all okay. Plus, Dr. Eady checked her for scary things like menegitis, but that also came back negative (thank god!) Parenting is difficult in many ways, and seeing your little one sick must be one of the hardest parts.
