Wacky Waco

Last weekend we headed to Dallas for the Jackopierce concert that I have been SO excited about for 6 months.  It was pretty awesome.  It was at the Winspear Opera House, which I had never been to and it was beautiful.  We went with Michelle, Eric, and my sorority sister Misti and her husband Jason.  Matthew had an overnight with Aunt Jean and Uncle Steve.  Of course, he was perfect and went right to sleep for them.  :)

Meagan enjoyed her first concert, but Natalie slept through much of it. She said it was very fun, though! On the way home we stopped in Waco at the Mayborn Museum.  I was totally shocked, but it was a great museum!  We all had a great time.  Matthew drove a fire truck.

Meagan became a bus driver. She honked the horn a lot.

The girls got to be anchors at the children's TV stations. 

Well, Natalie did what Natalie does.

We both enjoyed the huge cricket.  We liked the cricket way better than the hissing cockroach that was real.

Oddly enough, a plug for Waco!

 

 

After Andy's unfortunate 3 years (and my one year) in Waco, it is surprising to see us waxing poetically about Waco, TX, home of....well, home of....the Dr. Pepper Museum, Baylor University which granted my wonderful husband his doctorate, one of my sweet friends (who has actually given a tremendous amount of time and love to the zoo), and the great Cameron Park Zoo. Cameron Park Zoo is a lovely, small zoo set in bamboo and lush trees. The animals are held in cages that don't always look like cages, which I think is a major pro for any zoo. It is just small enough for my kids to be able to walk it on their own, but big enough that they don't get bored. It rained while we were there, but luckily they have some covered areas and indoor exhibits, so we ran from one to the other. I highly recommend my fellow Austinites jumping in the car for the quick drive up there just for the zoo. Then, you can come home to our wonderful, liberal, non-typical Texas city.

Cross your fingers for us...

...and Grandma Lois/Papa Joe. The girls and I met up with my mom in Waco. We had lunch and then she took them back to Dallas. They will be there until we met them Wed evening. I am hoping that it goes well and no little sicknesses happen. As I said, cross your fingers.

Poor Peanut couldn't escape Meagan's "loving" this morning. She ran, but couldn't hide! Natalie and Meagan are loving their new hat Grandma and Papa bought them in San Antonio. The top picture is from the Snowman that Natalie supposedly decorated. I should have known that it was WAAAAAY too quiet. Click on the photo to make it bigger and you will find that she ate all of the frosting and candies. Meagan's was very pretty and she didn't destroy it. :) I guess we all have our own ways of being artistic.
